12 weeks old

Matilda is now 12 weeks (and 3 days) old.

Looking back, she was so much smaller on the day we brought her home from the hospital.

Heads up

Mati is growing stronger although she is still wobbly during tummy time.

Baby shapes

Matilda folds up nicely into a cute ball of baby.

She's so precious here all curled up on her Dad.

Elephant wishes

Matilda enjoys her elephant rattle. It tastes good.

Happy birthday to Auntie Ben! We hope she enjoys her birthday as much as Mati enjoys her rattle. Here's to 30 being a delicious year.

Socks

Mati has such cute socks. I like when they reach her knees. She doesn't like when I take too many photos.

Just recently has she started frowning. Most of the time Matilda is all smiles.

Mini Googler

Last week, Mati slept through her first visit to Google.

Dad enjoyed showing her off. Sleeping babies are adorable.

Matilda's first friend

Yesterday, Matilda met her first new friend, Oceanne. Oceanne's mom, Emily, and I went to high school together.

With just three months between O and Mati, I'm sure they'll grow up to be great friends.

11 weeks old

Happy 11 weeks to Matilda. Before joining our family, she was a kicking baby bump in my belly. This video was taken two weeks before she was born.

One minute of smiles

Matilda is smiling, cooing, and gooing. Enjoy her one minute show.

Mati and I enjoy taking a stroll around the neighborhood. We like to walk down Chestnut and Union as well as visit the Marina and Fort Mason.

Matilda is "talking" more and more. She coos and goos and has conversations with us.

Mati's first Fleet Week

Matilda slept through the Blue Angels and other flying festivities this past weekend while Aunt Tiff, Matt, and I enjoyed the show.

10 weeks old

24: The Matilda Chronicles

I was going through some papers and found the notes I took before Matilda was born.

The following events take place between 3am August 3, 2008 and 4am August 4, 2008:

1. Kristin feels what she thinks is the start of labor at 3am.
2. Matt gets the heads up that baby is on the way at 7am.
3. Contractions are fairly speedy and regular from the start, at around 3 minutes in between.
4. Arrive at CPMC at 4:40pm and seen by Nurse Chelan.
5. Go home after observation at 6:35pm.
6. Kristin quickly decides that we are headed back, and we arrive at CPMC at 7:35pm.
7. Nurse Joy taks us up to the delivery room on the 2nd floor.
8. Saline IV starts at 8:25pm.
9. Dr. Chang, the anesthesiologist, starts Kristin's epidural at 8:45pm.
10. Kristin begins pushing at 1:51am.
11. Matilda Cole Smart is born at 3:41am.

1-2-3

Through a coordinated effort and in less than 6 seconds, Matilda had her vaccinations.

During Mati's 2nd month pediatrician appointment, two nurses literally counted 1-2-3 and then simultaneously stuck her in each thigh, not just once but twice for a total of four shots.
It was a rough day for all of us.

Matilda is learning to lift her head up.

9 weeks old

Mati had a few bouts of crying this weekend.

Matt and I took turns comforting her as seen in the photos.

Today at 9 weeks she had a much better day.

Matilda has grown quite a bit since these pics from 1 month ago.

She's still a little ball of baby but definitely heavier and longer. Her hair has thinned and lightened. She's also now cooing and gurgling.

2nd birthday

Happy 2 months to Matilda.

This month she gave us a wonderful gift--a smile. Plus, we caught it on film.
